About Dwayne Brown

Self-directed and driven in every aspect of my life, especially in my career with continuous improvement and growth, always being a work in progress. My character is fed with my leadership position as a Free and Accepted Mason, where we make "better men out of good men." Also, my membership in Phi Beta Sigma Incorporated is a lifelong commitment to "Strengthen and proactively serve the brotherhood" with scholarship and service in communities.I re-launched my educational goals when my Mother became ill and told me that her only wish was for me to "finish my education." For me, this meant starting all over again, but I worked hard and persevered and graduated with a +3.0. Now, her dream has become my dream, and I am pursuing my bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Applied Management Information Systems, where I can better demonstrate my ability to lead. While I have an extensive and varied work profile, I am seeking to become more diversified with a company that can and will appreciate my hard work, determination for success, and respect all employees' dignity and worth.

Over The Road (Otr) Driver/Shop Worker (4Th Shift)

Cleveland, North Carolina, United States

August 1995 - May 2001Delivered new Freightliners/Sterling trucks to dealerships and trucking companies throughout the United States and Canada. Auto Truck Transport (ATT) is a part of a long history in truck drive-away. Headquartered in Joplin, MO, ATT specializes in transporting trucks and truck chassis from and to assembly plants, ports, railway distribution points, auctions, dealerships, or other locations. I picked up loads at an ATT terminal located near a manufacturing plant. As a Shop Worker, I worked in the Cleveland terminal modifying the trucks so they can be decked. When a driver is assigned to a load, the trucks are decked and ready to roll. Typical modifications include: •an air hose rigged from the pull truck to ensure each axle on the ground has brakes•a light bar mounted at the rear with a light cord rigged from the pull truck for tail lights and turn signals•the exhaust stack removed from certain styles of trucks•axle shafts removed from the rear end on the ground so it can be freewheelWhen the load is delivered, as a driver I was responsible for un-decking and putting the trucks back in order for the customer. I unbolted the saddle mount, along with other decking equipment accumulated through the process. I would then place it where the customer requests for the company to pick up at a later time. As a driver, I carried simple hand tools with me to re-assemble trucks upon delivery. The un-decking process generally takes 2 to 3 hours for 3-way and 4-way loads. After successful delivery, Central Support secured travel and sent me either back to my home terminal, or to another terminal for a backhaul.
