My passion for basketball goes back as far as I can remember. I love the sport because it allowed me to compete at such a high which translates to other areas in life. The game taught me the importance of hard-work, how to respond to adversity and criticism, and most importantly, how to be coachable. As a student-athlete at Romulus high school, I wasn’t highly recruited but I learned a lot from legendary coach, Nate Oates, whom still serves as a personal mentor. I learned that although there aren’t many things you can control in basketball, or in life, you can control your attitude and how you respond to challenges. Possessing these non-cognitive variables could be the difference between getting better or worse, between winning or losing. Much of my success stems from my ability to make personal connections with players. After a couple of rough games to start the season as the Head Junior Varsity Basketball coach, my interpersonal communication skills allowed me to motivate them to win 17 game win-streak. They found a way to work together as a team, but most importantly they believed in themselves. My goal as a basketball coach is to help young people believe in themselves and develop the confidence they need to try. Winning in sports or in life starts in our mind. When we truly believe in ourselves, we can accomplish anything. I also take pride in being able to maximize the potential of our post players. As a collegiate athlete, I know what it takes to get to the next level regarding skill and mentality, and this is a unique quality I will bring to any program. At this point in my career, I am seeking a high school Varsity Head Coach position or assistant coach/graduate assistant role at the collegiate level. My goal is to learn more about recruiting, compliance, operations, film review, and different offensive and defensive philosophies. Although I have a lot to offer, I have more to learn about the business of college basketball. Let's connect and build!
