The Director oversees thedirection of the OSHE Program, which has a significant impact on University operations, develops andexecutes strategic goals and objectives that directly align with MSU strategy, and leads throughsubordinate senior professionals.The Director owns the development and management of a comprehensive university-wideenvironmental health and safety program to ensure that departments and the community are incompliance with university and regulatory policies, procedures, and work requirements to prevent anyharm to staff, faculty, or students, or damage to structures. OSHE programs cover: occupational andlaboratory safety, environmental management, workplace safety, and fire & life safety. The OSHEdepartment will be responsible for developing written programs and training courses, conductinginspections/investigations/testing, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and deliveringtraining to employees. The OSHE department is responsible for enforcement of compliance with allUniversity safety policies and procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal occupational safetylaws including the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH) National Fire ProtectionAssociation (NFPA), the Baltimore City Fire Department (BCFD) and others as may be appropriate.
