* Plan, Conduct and coordinate the development on complex and/or diverse scientific computer programs, associated documentation, block diagrams and logic flow charts. * Modify moderately complex applications programs from detailed specifications. Code, test, debug, document and maintain those programs. * Competent to work at most phases of applications programming activities but requires instruction and guidance in phases. * Provide technical advice and consultation on difficult scientific programming applications to other staff members. * Conceptualize, develop and implement complex scientific program designs. Participate in developing scientific programming and documentation standards. * Coordinate with computer operations staff to resolve program malfunctions encountered in operational runs. * Correct program errors by reviewing instructions or altering sequence of operations. Define test schedules and test data requirements to verify logic of new or modified programs. Analyze and improves existing programs. * Provide system administration for assigned operating systems. Assist with guidelines and technical support for system administration on systems configuration, hardware/software problems and security concerns. Assist network administrators to configure area networks. Respond to help requests for technical support. * Clearly communicate and professionally interact with management, co-workers and customers.
