I lead leaders. I've retired twice, the first time after a successful high tech start up and second time after being the CEO and President of what is now Energy Solutions. I now give back by mentoring a limited number of CEOs and business owners. Being a Vistage Group chair has provided me with an opportunity to share my experience and help other leaders take their business to the next level. I don’t need to tell you it’s a competitive world out there. The best way to succeed is to harness the knowledge experience of others who understand your challenges.I understand that successful CEOs, small business owners and executives need support outside of their firm. It is lonely at the top. My group is a place where like-minded professionals can share challenges, float ideas and brainstorm solutions. I foster an environment that allows for total trust, relationship building and creative problem solving. We don't know what we don't know. Our group members are excited to learn what they don't know through interaction and accomplished industry experts that speak to our group each month.The great part of the Vistage group is that we all face similar business obstacles—kind of a “been there, done that” mentality, yet when a group member frames a challenge often the solution arises from the collective effort that we may not have seen on our own. It is an honor to contribute to my Vistage group members’ personal and professional growth and one of the most rewarding things I’ve done in my career.
