I am a PhD student in Linguistics at the University of Colorado Boulder studying computational linguistics, advised by Dr. Martha Palmer. My research focuses on leveraging linguistic annotations to probe for and encode semantic phenomena, particularly in the domains of argument structure, polysemy, and crosslingual alignment. Much of my work examines the semantic integrity of computational representations of linguistic phenomena. Many existing linguistic annotations exist solely for English, so recently I have been pivoting into examining and creating multilingual datasets that can reveal unique monolingual idiosyncratic semantics that an English-driven NLP and linguistics world don’t account for. I have published 3 first author papers at competitive computational linguistics conferences (EMNLP, LREC, COLING) describing models that I have created to address some aspect of encoding linguistic information into an automatic annotation or description setting: rule-based aspect for English verbs and eventive nominals, stative versus dynamic aspect, and adposition and case supersenses.
