David E. Weekly Email and Phone Number
I'm a seasoned technical product executive and CEO with 30 years of experience building and running zero-to-one orgs in all manner of structures: non-profits, startups of my own creation, mid-sized companies, and companies like Facebook, Google and Capital One. I love how people, design, technology, and dreams can come together to build awesome new things. It's wonderful to explore a new problem space, ideate on potential & practical solutions, ship something real, watch it delight folks, and then learn what we screwed up for the next turn of the crank.I delight in helping people see their full potential, watching their efforts come to fruition and helping hone them to make them even more powerful versions of themselves. I'm proud at how many of my mentees have soared to greatness and now mentor others.Working with startups and new concepts is something I find energizing and invigorating. I've invested in over 110 companies, sit on several boards. I've created vehicles to help startups in ecosystems as varied as Drones and Mexican tech. I'm always in the founder's corner even as I'm unafraid to give direct (and loving) feedback.I've built and run commercial research teams for Google, Facebook, and Capital One. I've visited over 40 countries, taught kids tech in Ghana, worked with the Tunisian government on connectivity, seen fiber trenching live in Uganda, climbed mountains to support hilltop community wireless in northern India, have been a reporter for the Korean press, own a Canadian ham radio license, guided Filipino coders on their use of Facebook APIs, and polled the Swedish public in person on their opinion on GMOs. I'm a certified PADI Rescue Scuba Diver, a helicopter pilot, an instrument-rated commercial airplane pilot, and a Part 107 licensed commercial drone operator. I've taught thousands about product management and created and ran a course on product management attended by over 2,000 Googlers.I like helping people. That's the Silicon Valley way. I don't expect favors in return, but do expect those I help to help others. I hope to some day help in politics, as I believe all people should spend some time in service.I think we should have opinions about technology and the world and to make a best guesstimate of how we can make the world better based on what we know, then to push for that. It's not that technology is either inherently good or bad but it certainly *is* an amplifier and thus it very much matters what we build and don't build.I don't like eggplant.
