Derrick Whisel is the Senior Technology Advisor for Security Solutions at Internetwork Engineering. Derrick has worked in the IT industry for 25+ years, ultimately gaining extensive experience in project engineering, management, project scoping, budgeting, and design for a large client base within the Southeast. He started his IT career while deployed on board USS Constellation CV-64. Upon being honorably discharged as an IT2 Second Class Petty Officer, he moved to the private sector working for a public utility company as Network Engineer. A year later, he started his career with Internetwork Engineering in a consulting role as a Delivery Engineer deploying security solutions for some of the largest financial institutions and companies in the Carolinas. After a couple of years as a Solutions Specialist in Security, his focus was to develop comprehensive security architecture solutions based on business requirements for his sales and delivery teams as well as for his customers.Currently, he is in a director-level position responsible for ensuring the success of security technology initiatives for employees, customers, and partners, as well as advising on security architectural solutions for sales and project delivery. This includes in-depth planning of new and existing products and service offerings, training of the pre-sales and sales teams, training of the service delivery engineers, quality control, high-level vendor relationships, and go-to-market and marketing strategies.
