I am a Quality Assurance (QA) Chemist at Environmental Standards Inc. that started in the environmental industry as a laboratory chemist. I have 4+ years of experience in organic analysis utilizing semivolatile and volatile extraction techniques, coupled with Gas Chromatography (GC) instrumentation including GC/Electron Capture Detector (ECD), GC/Mass Spectroscopy (MS), and purge/trap or thermal desorption instrumentation. I have moderate experience in the preparation and analysis of inorganic compounds of interest using Segmented Flow Analyzer (SFA) instrumentation. In my laboratory experience, several opportunities allowed me to perform high-level instrumentation repairs and hardware upgrades allowing for increased understanding of GC systems. I have also participated in standard operating procedure (SOP) revision and creation based on U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) methods and process improvements, determined to increase efficiencies. Through my work history, I have found a passion for QA, which pushed me to pursue a position in the environmental consultation industry as a QA Chemist. In this role, I ensure laboratory data complies with Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs), governing regulations, EPA methods, SOPs and to assess the usability of the data from the Analytical Laboratory Reports and Electronic Data Deliverables (EDDs), which helps make regulatory and developmental decisions.Foremost, I think of myself as an Environmental Scientist as I graduated from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with my Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science/Biology. As such, I consistently find myself devising ways to navigate everyday life reducing, reusing, and recycling in attempts to decrease my families carbon footprint and impact on the planet. Much of my passion for environmental science stems from my love for the outdoors. Nothing is more enjoyable to me than being out in the wilderness and just being one with nature. In fact, out of my many hobbies, my favorites are probably camping and hiking. The passion I have for the environment, has only fueled my enthusiasm in my chemistry roles because I feel I have an obligation to protect and preserve the beauty of nature and the health of the community, for future generations.
