I am currently a 5th grade educator within the District of Columbia public schools. I am responsible for reading, writing, and social studies instruction for all 5th grade students. I love my job and enjoy teaching the students I have the privilege of serving.

The Mary Jane Patterson Fellowship, named after the first African American principal in DCPS, is an internal leadership pipeline dedicated to fulfilling the need for dynamic instructional leaders in our schools. Founded in 2013, the Patterson Fellowship has been cited by the Wallace Foundation and the Fordham Institute for its innovative approach to building a strong bench of district leaders.
