About David Michaels

I've heard the phrase, "we're in the people business," uttered as if it was a unique situation. I'm going to suggest that we're ALL in the people business. No matter what we do, it's for another person. Whether it's a service or a product, in the end, it's for a person. Too often, we throw a group of people together and call them a team. The true test of a team, though, is that their output is more than the sum of their parts. I use my study of human behavior, behavioral economics, leadership, coaching, and productivity to aid me in diagnosing team problems and helping the people on those teams deliver the most important work as early as possible. We are all motivated to do something; however, too many of us are too busy doing anything to consider if what we are doing is what we should be doing. As recent as 2022, Gallup reported that ~66% of the workforce is disengaged. I'm in the 32% that are engaged. And what I want is to help the other 66% realize the power and joy of being engaged in their work and life. Employees who get satisfaction from their work are more engaged with those around them and productive in the work they choose to do.I believe that at the root of every one of our memorable experiences is a person - for better or worse. Using the principles and values of Agile, I strive to accentuate the positives, be authentic, and do the uncomfortable work of not settling for the status quo in order to help teams find autonomy, mastery, and purpose in their work.
