Natuurpunt invested a significant budget in IT systems. As a big organisation the daily work depends on them and the data in it. Two major concerns about these data drives my work:- data quality: if you do nothing you get data erosion with an increase of mistakes and double work as direct result and loss of efficiency on the invested money at the end.- data access: making the data accessible on a structured way can help all the employees (and for Natuurpunt also the volunteers) with there work and gives a gain on the investment.

Responsible for the smooth operation of all hardware and software systems, supervision of the IT Helpdesk and support for overall user satisfaction concerning IT services.Natuurpunt is the largest Belgian NGO working on the protection of nature. The long term protection of important habitats, species and landscapes is the main goal. To achieve this the organisation is protecting the remaining nature in Flanders through buying and managing land, studying species and habitats, by raising awareness and introducing educational programs for a general and specific public and lobbying local and regional governments.

As Rational Consultant, I am a member of the GBS Rational Center, providing infrastructure and services for Rational tooling to support the GBS software development projects. I concentrate on the Requirements to Test/Quality path including traceability during changes, all supported by the Rational Jazz platform.

Within the facilitating ICT Project Office there are a number of groups defined, each with a specific scope like planning, SCM, Testing, Coding and Modeling. This aims to improve and support the software development process by the development teams in the various ICT business units. My key areas were Software Configuration Management and Project Planning.
