PresidentPollock & Associates, Inc. Apr 1999 - Jan 2017Built, from the ground up, a Florida legislative and executive branch contract lobbying firm. Key clients include: AT&T, Sprint, Embarq, No Casinos-Florida, Barr Labs, Florida Home Builders Association, SkyeTec, Genting, St. Pete Kennel Club, American Heart Association, Mold Assessors & Remediators Coalition, Florida Pre-paid College Fund, Retractable Technologies and the American Jewish Committee.Key Achievements: Historically, the businesses of mold assessment and remediation were entirely unregulated. This led to unscrupulous actors who took advantage of consumers and insurance companies alike. Through the process of building coalitions between developers, insurers and consumer groups while navigating the generally conservative, ‘no new regulations’ state legislature, I led the successful effort of passing a law that required training, experience, insurance and licensure thereby eliminating bad actors and protecting consumers.I tracked Federal stimulus money from the US Department of Energy that the Florida Legislature directed to the state’s home weatherization program to offer need based grants to improve a dwelling’s energy efficiency. Anticipating the $300mm program’s needs, I introduced the program administrators to my clients who perform energy efficiency inspections to help the state agency develop their program and let them know of our experience. After responding to the state’s bid request, my client scored first out of 11 other firms and was awarded the contract.AT&T related legislation: completed retail deregulation of wire-line telecommunications services. The bills placed Florida among the most progressive states in modernizing telecommunication regulation. Enacted: 2009 and 2011.
