As a Barista Maestro, I was a part of a sub-management team that oversaw the day-to-day running of our store. This new role involved training team members to brand standards and motivating them to reach both personal and company targets. I was an integral part of cultivating an welcoming atmosphere in the newly opened store which resulted in 4 compliments within the first 6 weeks of trading, which was a fantastic achievement for the entire team. In terms of operations, I quickly learnt how to interpret Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and therefore gained a greater understanding of the business. I was also responsible for controlling stock levels through completing stock checks, managing orders from various suppliers and stock rotation.

During this term of employment, I became an integral part of a select committee who met high-level managers to review performance and discuss future strategies relating to the functioning of the bars. I was also a part of a sub-team, who regularly created events to hold in the bars meaning that I have experience with handling financial constraints, coordinating event management and organising in fine detail. As a Supervisor, I have gained experience in managing teams of people and ensuring team performance is maintained as outstanding. I prided myself on leading teams where each individual felt valued and appreciated. Furthermore, I completed a ‘Pint Perfection’ training course organised by Heineken which qualifies me to train others in maintaining brand standards.

I was required to complete a comprehensive training course to become a qualified Barista. I consistently provided exceptional brand-standard coffee, complemented with exemplary customer service. Moreover, I quickly became entrusted with managing small teams and helping to train new members of staff. Finally, I was encouraged to up-sell Costa products and use my interpersonal skills to establish a rapport with customers and to give advice on particular products they may enjoy.
