My work at Virginia Mason Medical Center included business operations, financial management and COVID-19 response. In the area of business operations, I developed tools to help 32+ specialty leaders better identify opportunities to improve throughput in their clinics, established an internal training program for training MA-R’s internally, coordinated supply inventory management for an inpatient labor & delivery unit as part of a joint venture, worked with operational leaders to build business growth strategies internally and with external partners and laid foundation for a new system wide referral management system for Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. In the area of financial management, I developed a financial management toolkit for our ambulatory leaders, built operational targets to support the organizational pro forma for provider recruitment, and supported operational leaders and contracting in capital equipment purchases, focused on cost avoidance. In the area of COVID-19 response, I coordinated opening of an acute respiratory clinic for patient testing and treatment in 48 hours, along with an accompanying drive-thru clinic, developed a distribution plan for 100+ PAPR units across the organization and coordinated conversion of three inpatient units to COVID-19 treatment floors.
