I work on economic and policy projects in agriculture; agri-business and the food chain; rural development and animal welfare. For the European Commission I have evaluated GMO food and feed policy, labelling issues including country of origin labelling and providing information to consumers about product credence attributes such as production methods, use of cloning and products of designated origin; I have carried out cost benefit analysis of policies and executive agencies. I have evaluated rural development plans for UK authorities at the ex-ante, mid-term and ex-post stages and have assessed the impact of specific components of rural development policy including Farming Connect and various agri-environment schemes. I also carry out economic and policy impact assessments for NGOs and private agribusiness clients.

I carry out economic and policy analysis in agri-food, agriculture and rural development. I carried out the first major analysis of the impact of Brexit at the farm level. This was published in the AHDB’s Horizon series and has informed the debate in the media, within government and in House of Commons Select Committees. I have also carried out research into a post-Brexit animal welfare policy.I am a Director at Agra CEAS Consulting, part of Informa Agribusiness Consulting and have over twenty years' experience of carrying out and managing complex, multi-country economic research and evaluation contracts for major clients including the European Institutions (DG AGRI, DG SANTE, DG ENV, the European Parliament and Eurostat); national governments; private clients and NGOs in the agriculture, agri-food and rural development policy spheres. I have served as a Special Advisor to the House of Lords EU Energy and Environment Sub-Committee in its inquiry into Price Volatility and Creating Resilience in Agriculture.
