Profile bio

About Dylan Browne

With experience that spans across Visual Effects, Game Development and Virtual Production, I like to leverage my wide knowledge base to find new and efficient ways to get things done utilizing the latest technology and pushing what’s possible visually.Having worked on 12+ Feature Films, various Series and other interesting interactive projects over the past 6 years at Mill Film, Mr.X, Modelfarm and RSP, I've managed to amass a large volume of experience as a Lighting Artist and then expanding into FX, Modelling, Lookdev, Shaders, Virtual Production, Real-Time Rendering and Tools / Pipedev to where I am now as Unreal Engine Supervisor at ModelFarm.I’d best describe myself as a Tech Artist or TD with a generalist skill set as I come with extensive software experience including 13 years of Unreal Engine, Maya, Katana, Substance Painter / Designer, Houdini, Nuke as well as Python Scripting and HLSL Shader code and I'm always interested in learning new software & techniques. As an artist I'm probably best known for my speed as well as my fairly active Unreal Engine work online which I work on in my spare time, including two game jam games that have won graphics categories in the last two Epic Megajams. This has taught me to value interaction with the artist community and led to me working on and releasing a bunch of Unreal Engine tools to the wider community on the Marketplace, the most popular being the Ocean System for Rendered Cinematics which has been used by countless projects from Arch-Vis to Streaming Series'. This also led to me presenting a talk at Unreal Fest 2023 on the Gold Coast on Alembic Fluids in Unreal Engine.ModelFarm are at the forefront of Unreal Engine work in Australia, focusing on high end visuals utilizing real time Raytracing, Deferred rendering as well as Path Tracing on various projects. At Modelfarm as Unreal Engine Supervisor I oversee all things real-time as well as jumping in as a generalist on non real-time shows. In addition to this I have a strong drive to develop useful tools to leverage procedural workflows and new ways of solving problems. As a pretty easy going but passionate person, I enjoy working with people every day and eventually getting to see our great work on the big (or small) screen.

Listed skills include After Effects, Photoshop, Visual Effects, Graphic Design, and 45 others.

This resulted in a streamlined process for our lighting & FX artists to get their work done without worrying about shot setup or dealing with animation imports with this one click solution. Spearheaded Modelfarm’s embracing of Unreal Engine’s Path Tracer for rendering in the studio, creating render templating and teaching the team the benefits, allowing for a much higher quality UE output. Worked with our talented Pipeline team to help realize our largely automated distributed rendering setup for Unreal Engine.Worked with our FX lead to lay the initial groundwork for a method to get millions of animated objects simulated in Houdini into Unreal Engine for a Feature Animation
