I have been a police officer with the City of Union for the past seven and a half years. Prior to my law enforcement career, I attended Lindenwood University where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a legal emphasis. During my time at Lindenwood University, I was able to serve on the student government as a student body senator and treasurer. As a police officer, I have attended numerous trainings to continue my education so I can better serve my community. I am an accident reconstructionist for the City of Union, and have worked many serious or fatal motor vehicle crashes. I really enjoy accident reconstruction for the simple reason that numbers lead to facts. I am able to determine how a motor vehicle crash occurred based on the numbers obtained through measurements. In 2022, I became a school resource officer. The change from being a road patrol officer to school resource officer was something I didn’t know what to expect. After only a few days, my eyes were opened to a whole new world of law enforcement. Not only could I respond to calls to assist the community as a road patrol officer, but now I’m in a school setting where I can build relationships with the youth. Being a school resource officer has to be the most rewarding position within law enforcement. I know it changed my life for the better. As a school resource officer, I was able to attend D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Instructor school. During my time as a D.A.R.E. Instructor, I have taught approximately 400 fifth graders the 10 week program. The programs primary intent is to teach students how to make safe and responsible choices on their own. I have loved being in the classroom setting, and building those connections with the students and teachers. Overall, I am an extremely hard worker and quick learner. I am dedicated and passionate about everything I do, and I’m eager to continue learning.
