Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate Collegiate.After completing initial academic screening, a series of interviews including phone technical, in-person technical, and an interview with a four star admiral I was accepted into the Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate role in the US Navy. After determining the program was not a good fit for my interests and career goals I have since been qualified and training fellow candidates in administration prior to separation.

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity of employment as an R&D Mechanical Engineering Co-op and intern for three rotations. As a test engineer I was given progressive responsibilities which included hands-on experience working with the fire trucks and motor homes. I developed MIG and TIG welding skills to complete a variety of 5S continuous improvement projects which included vehicle bay dyno pit covers, battery recharge cart frame, shelving units, used oil frame, and a moisture removal frame. During my first intern summer project I streamlined door switches in the fire truck door panels which increased life cycle by 20 times. Additionally, I was involved in testing to verify factors of safety in both steel and aluminum included in a squirt style fire truck boom. I apprenticed under master technicians to understand how to prepare and conduct tests for root-cause analyses to diagnose customer service cases. I instrumented new model year fire truck and motor home chassis for testing procedures via strain gauge application, pressure transducers, and string potentiometers which verified design standards.

I apprenticed under a contractor to complete bathroom remodeling, pole barn construction, and roof maintenance. We worked to professionally install drywall, plumbing, electrical, framing, siding, windows, shingles, fascia, and soffit.

I was added to the Gentex team starting in the summer of 2017. I completed two co-op rotations which first consisted of learning the culture and processes in the glass bending process of manufacturing.

I was able to exercise my improved knowledge of Solidworks and mechanical component design on my second rotation as a Glass Bending Design Engineer. I worked in an interdisciplinary team to design parts that satisfied safety standards prior to the launch of two product lines. I produced a method of increasing user-friendliness and performance of an older piece of glass sensing equipment. Finally, I utilized Solidworks weldments features and FEA to model a structure to fulfill new ABB robot requirements for a new product style glass crate. Two of these weldments were fabricated and utilized in production.
