I have always had a keen interest in Mathematics, consistently achieving high results during my school years. Choosing Mathematics, Economics and Finance for my degree was a logical next step to pursue my desire to apply economic analysis with advanced mathematical skills in my future career. This degree helped me to explore and understand modern mathematics, economic theory and financial structures. I mastered a wide range of mathematical topics and techniques, including computing and computational mathematics, statistics and probability – and how to apply them to real-world problems. I also developed in-demand expertise in financial and economic theory, such as financial markets, corporate finance, and micro- and macroeconomics.The subject knowledge and transferable skills I gained in this programme are increasingly valuable in areas where quantitative analysis and data-handling are important. They were very useful in my part-time job as an accounts assistant where I supported the finance manager with business accounting activities. This included raising, sending and paying invoices, reconciling company accounts and chasing late payments. I also assisted with basic administration tasks and was on hand to answer any queries raised by staff or external clients or providers. During this time I developed a strong understanding of accounting processes and gained valuable experience in managing financial transactions. This experience has honed my organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.I have always been eager to expand my knowledge and skills in the finance industry. I have actively sought out opportunities to learn and grow, attending workshops and seminars to stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices. This continuous learning mindset has allowed me to adapt quickly to new challenges and contribute effectively to my team.In conclusion, I am a proactive and focused individual with a positive, confident approach. My experience in university has equipped me with the necessary skills to excel in a full-time role within the finance industry. I am eager to leverage my acquired skills and interests to contribute to a dynamic finance team.
