What we do here at Easterseals UCP is a huge part of my identity. When my brother was an infant he suffered a severe seizure resulting in permanent brain damage. As a family, the challenges we experienced felt monumental. Though we dedicated our lives to his care, I honestly do not know how we could have survived without agencies like Easterseals UCP. On any given day care coordinators, program supervisors, and paraprofessionals were guests in our home. We were so grateful for their presence because they met us at the front line and served as our allies. I believe these childhood experiences, combined with my caring nature, are what ultimately led me to pursue a career in human services.Initially, an interest in art and education led me to earn a Master of Fine Arts degree from The University of Kentucky in 2011. However, I soon entered the field of human services in 2012. Now serving as a Risk Manager within the Quality Management team I use character strengths such as Empathy, Responsibility, and Consistency to carry out our mission. These strengths give me the ability to listen with an open mind, provide thoughtful responses, and foster meaningful relationships communitywide.
