Gunner's mates (GM) are responsible for the operation and maintenance of guided missile launching systems, gun mounts and other ordnance equipment, as well as small arms and ordnance stowing magazines. They work with electrical and electronic circuitry; mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.Specific Duties in current position:-Workcenter Supervisor (for third largest workcenter onboard): Directly plans, manages, and executes through delegation routine maintenance on equipment and schedules any corrective maintenance that arises. Other responsibilities of Workcenter Supervisor include Documenting, tracking, and executing through delegation any material discrepancies within workcenter.-Anti-Terrorism Training Team Member (ATTT): A Ship's ATTT consists of subject matter experts within the realm of shipboard anti-terrorism and force protection while at sea or in port. ATTT frequently conducts training and also plans and executes ship level evolution's in order to instruct, train, and mentor sailors on board with the goal of increasing their knowledge, tactics, and mindset towards the ship's anti-terrorism program and defense of the ship from foreign or domestic threats.-Small Arms Line Coach: Provides training to sailors in the knowledge and use of small arms. Ensures complete safety and adherence to rules given to sailors during live fire small arms qualifications and evolutions.Non-Compliant Visit, Board, Search and Seizure Operator (VBSS)- A VBSS Operator conducts maritime boardings in support of Maritime Interdiction Operations, designed to capture enemy vessels, combat terrorism, piracy, and smuggling, and to conduct customs, safety or approach-and-assist operations.
