As an Applications Engineering Intern, I played a key role in advancing ESI's laser-based drilling tools from a minimal viable product (MVP) to a state nearing commercialization. My work involved demonstrating the system's capabilities, pushing it to its limits, and identifying areas for refinement to ensure readiness for the market. - Aided peers through collaboration to design and align free space to fiber coupler for infrared and visible light, achieving a coupling efficiency of over 80%.- Facilitated precise observation and analysis of lasing capabilities within a specific cavity configuration by collaboratively constructing a Fabry-Perot interferometer, adeptly transforming an open cavity Helium-Neon laser into a highly effective spectrum analyzer.- Enabled continuous laser operation at 1550 nm by assembling and rigorously testing a CW Erbium-Doped fiber ring laser, ensuring no self-pulsing for improved stability and precision for use in spectrum analysis.
