About Dylan Fast

Research chemist / materials scientist with substantial materials characterization experience using techniques such as X-Ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, X-Ray reflectivity, spectroscopy, and more. I also did chemical modeling work using molecular dynamics and density functional theory as well as a significant amount of coding in Python to create file inputs and process data. Worked in a highly collaborative research environment with experience spanning the entire breadth of graduate research projects including precursor synthesis, sample preparation, structural and properties characterization of powders and thin-films, and management of both undergraduate and graduate researchers. Prior experience as an applications engineer for three years doing on-site installations and repairs of electrical and optical equipment for THz spectrometers as well as new product R&D. This included developing many pragmatic skills including instrument calibration and characterization, soldering, inventory management, customer support and sales both on-site and remotely, and further coding using Labview and Matlab.
