Hi, I'm Dylan Gagnon. I am a graduate of UMass Amherst where I completed a double major in Marketing and Communications as well as a Certificate in Film Studies.For the last 3 years, I have worked in the nonprofit industry for a small, formidable Western Massachusetts-based organization known as Stop It Now!. While I had not previously worked for a non-profit, this work was in many ways a logical extension of the work I did previously for UMass Amherst's Film Department; I worked with a small team to maintain, improve, and expand a small organization's capabilities by using an array of creative, marketing, and administrative skills.My time working with the Film Department at UMass Amherst reinforced the team-building and cooperation-based values I had come to appreciate more and more at school, and taught me an array of technical skills including website management and the various programs of the Adobe Suite, skills I would use on a daily basis while working for Stop It Now! later on. These communication and technical skills were extremely useful in an office-oriented workspace, but they were also useful in the more creative-oriented space that I occupied filmmaking. I worked on student film sets in various capacities (lighting, sound recording, acting, assisting) for film course projects and for the campus station, UVC-TV. Although I did not fully pursue a traditional career in film immediately after college, I continue to write stories, edit both my own and fellow graduates' scripts, and participate in film shoots as an actor, assistant director, and production assistant.Before my time at the Film Department, I had worked various jobs, from my high school years through college, at businesses such as Gove Law Inc., LLC, Dahlke's Moving & Storage Inc., and Sears, Roebuck & Company. I gained interpersonal and organizational skills even from more minor tasks such as converting customers to rewards programs, handling various service requests, and managing my work station and cash register.Whether I'm fundraising, photographing, acting, designing, writing, or video editing, I bring the diligence and thoughtfulness required by all of my skill sets into all of my professional work.Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me.
