Reader For The Black List
I have been a reader for The Black List website for a decade. In that time, I have read, reviewed, and critiqued hundreds of screenplays and pilot submissions from Hollywood and all over the world.
Screenwriter
DYLAN GALLAGHER has been crafting story since the wee age of 7 and writing screenplays since he was 12, all with the goal of writing professionally in the film industry. Traveling abroad before adolescence helped cement Dylan's interest in history and other cultures, and ever since, he's eagerly cultivated an amalgam of literature from other countries. After his stint at the New England prep school Phillips Exeter Academy, Dylan took their motto "non sibi" to heart and booked it to LA so he could tell stories that question people's selfish nature. His first industry gig was as PA for Jerry Bruckheimer Films, where he soaked in as much professionalism (and pirating) as possible. But it wasn't until he found a home at Marvel that Dylan realized his passion for dark, complicated characters could flourish in television. Guilt-ridden protagonists? Check. Characters afraid of their subconscious? Check. Ever-expanding cause-and-effect storytelling? Triple check! Dylan quickly made himself an asset for Marvel TV, working closely with different show runners and writers of all levels. This helped him learn the realpolitik of a room. Dylan's interests lie in a healthy Venn diagram of historical drama, action-thriller, and horror. No matter the genre, he finds the most interesting personalities are those most compromised. Dylan's goal is introducing audiences to characters they will hate themselves for loving. Because everyone deserves to be understood. And everyone deserves love. In his spare time, Dylan is trying to pull the sword from the stone, and fighting demons with rock 'n roll.
