Growing up, I knew I would always go to college. When it came time to decide what I wanted to major in, I couldn't come to a decision as nothing felt right. After some searching, I stumbled upon Safety Management. I graduated from Slippery Rock and secured the role of Safety Specialist. It was then that I understood what safety really meant and was what turned my job into a career. It is creating a culture of continuous improvement upon workplace policies and procedures that are in place to prevent injury and illness. It is having buy in from all team members, from the management team to the workforce. Being in safety has benefited my personal life in ways that I couldn't have imagined a job could achieve. In this field, you learn how to communicate with every position level inside an organization.
