Design Engineer
Engineer Ii, Mechanical
As the subject matter expert for one of our product lines, I am responsible for providing engineering support to factory operations by answering any technical questions and dispositioning nonconforming parts. In addition, I implemented product improvements by developing new specifications, integrating legacy documents into our PLM system to be revision controlled, and validated historical information.Lead 2D and 3D CAD designer for any drawing or part creations. I also update bill of materials (BOMs), engineering specifications, and technical design files to maintain compliance with relevant industry standards (EN, PED, ATEX).I oversee lab testing by writing test procedures, final reports, and making sound conclusions and recommendations based on results.
Design Engineer I
Tutor
Differential equations & linear algebra tutor for the Tutor Program and Trio SSS at the University of Maine.Tutor for mechanical engineering courses for the Engineering Learning Center at the University of Maine.
Engineering Intern
Provided support to the mechanical engineering team and supply operations team on a daily basis. I drove product improvement by performing mechanical testing in-house on prototype designs. Results were documented and reported to the engineering team for review. Furthermore, I performed validation tests on new designs to verify whether samples met specifications on SolidWorks drawings. Regularly reviewed PCBA component failure data from contract manufacturer and conducted trend analysis. I generated a monthly report that was to be discussed among engineers of different disciplines to help identify root cause and to make recommendations for resolution. Created an automated Excel spreadsheet to efficiently analyze new PCBA component failure data for the team.Undertook the project of organizing excess electronic components in inventory and secured the sale of scrap by reaching out to various manufacturers and suppliers. This position challenged me by forcing me out of my comfort zone and to be able to wear multiple hats. My involvement across the mechanical enginering team and supply operations team improved my communication and collaboration skills as well as provided me with more hands-on experience.
Mechanical Engineering Intern
Worked in a cross-functional team to design ductwork and pipe systems in Revit. This involved the navigation of Harriman's mechanical and plumbing libraries as well as product databases. This role frequently drew on my organization, time-management, and communication skills to effectively juggle multiple projects to meet deadlines. Used TRACE 700 to calculate loads within buildings to optimize the design of the building's HVAC system based on energy consumption requirements and to assist in the unit heater selection process. This position improved my communication and collaboration skills. I also had the opportunity to learn a new CAD software (Revit).
Metal Fabricator
Worked as a CNC machine operator in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to prep stock metal for fabrication. Checked the CNC program file to optimize machine settings to improve accuracy and reduce takt time. I also managed machine changeover whenever neccessary, such as machine maintenance, cleaning, and tool replacement. Performed part inspections by verifying specs with the specifications of the drawings to ensure parts were in-spec and could be used in the assembly process.Assisted window and door assemblers on the shop floor to increase efficiency of the assembly process. Installed components such as strike plates and door hinges with handheld tools.I gained a lot of valuable hands-on skills working in this position, such as CNC machining and metal fabrication. I also had the opportunity to practice quality management principles with a primary focus in quality control by performing part inspections.
