I have worked closely with my line manager and the wider Truro City Council team to keep good working relationships which I'm very proud of, in every aspect of the life of a busy park café. I maintain good relationships with our suppliers, customers and staff which I value immensely, and have been given the responsibility of a lot of valuable tasks such as depositing the weekly cash takings in the bank, making sure invoices are recorded accurately, ensuring staff hours are recorded correctly and much moreThis is a role I'm really comfortable in and can see myself growing from in the future Show less

For 2 years, starting in the midst of the the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic and during my gap year, I worked as a carer assisting with the domiciliary care of multiple clients. At TCC, we took a client-centred approach, teams would be formed around clients according to their specialised needs and requirements, as TCC specialised in SCI (spinal cord injury) individuals. I found this to be incredibly rewarding work. It was challenging at times, 12 hour shifts from 8am-8pm, but the reward of improving the client's life even somewhat, was always worth it. My work as a carer taught me so much about not only the care profession, but workplace standards in general. We were required to record everything we did down, all the record of care had to be written down and passed on to the next shift, the importance of clear communication was never more paramount than it was here. I learned and honed many transferable skills in my time as a carer at TCC, and am confident these are skills I'll be able to bring into any future endeavour I seek. Show less

I was employed in a part-time position at the 4-star hotel, The Alverton, for a number of months; in which I was a reliable asset in the service department. I learned invaluable customer service skills, such as how to communicate effectively with both my team, and all customers to ensure their service was of the highest quality. Furthermore, through this experience I learned methods in which to deal with “difficult” customers, enabling myself to keep a cool head in the face of adversity or challenging circumstances. As a 4-star hotel, a lot was happening at any one time; particularly during breakfast shifts. Many tasks needed completing at once – this led to rapid development of my time management, and more importantly, time allocation skills in order to make effective use of my time to complete each task in order of importance, while also being able to deal with new tasks constantly being added or altered.
