The University of Washington Solar Decathlon Team is currently working to design and later build a zero-emissions single family home for the Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon competition.As a member of this team, I performed the following duties:- Worked on a team to design a sustainable net-zero house that addresses issues such as earthquake resilience and affordability- Investigated building materials and decided based on criteria such as R-values, cost, sustainability, disaster resilience, and government regulations- Estimated solar panel productivity by utilizing a 3D model, technical specifications, and weather data - Calculated heat loss and a Home Energy Rating System rating for the building design using spreadsheets, Ekotrope, and technical specifications of equipment- Revised proposed wall material composition and HVAC systems based on regulations- Utilized Revit to create electrical and plumbing plans for our home design while incorporating knowledge gained from industry professionals- Formatted, wrote, and revised parts of project summary

As an undergraduate research assistant working on the “Thermal Analysis and Simulation for the Design of Highly Durable Cyclotron Targets” project at the University of Washington's Radiation Oncology Department, I performed the following duties:- Modeled how the addition of various heat sources and cooling systems would affect an object thermally in COMSOL- Analyzed the thermal behavior of europium oxide cyclotron targets and investigated how changes in properties and design would affect heat distribution using COMSOL and ANSYS- Created CAD models of targets based on engineering drawings to be simulated in COMSOL - Accurized simulations by using real-world experimental data and simulation data in combination to estimate hard-to-measure values such as thermal contact resistance and heat transfer coefficients- Optimized 3D model meshes to enhance simulation result quality and reduce computational costs- Modified lab space and set up a vacuum chamber for experiments utilizing shop skills (including the use of power tools) and soldering

The University of Washington Underwater Remotely-Operated Vehicle Team is a robotics team that designs, constructs, and remotely operates an underwater robot to accomplish tasks as dictated by the MATE ROV competition.
