During my final co-op rotation at AFL I worked at the USAC division. Here I worked among upper management and other engineers to work on a Six Sigma project to improve changeover times across different cable spooling operations. In this project I went through the entire process of collecting data to statistical analyzation to finally recommending changes to SOPs and the overall process layout. I also attended daily management meetings where I gained insight into how a full scale plant environment runs.

During this time I worked at AFL’s accessories division in Duncan, SC. I completed 2 of my 3 co-op rotations at this location. Here I worked on cost analysis projects, production layout planning, integration of new laser engraving technology, and ergonomic corrections. Specifically some of projects included integrating manufacturing equipment such as ergonomic lift tables and laser engraving technology to replace existing dot peen marking and also planning and reconfiguring the plant layout in order to bring in 2 new mills.
