During the Summer of 2016 the structure of Shire Pharmaceuticals changed so radically that I feel it was among the most rewarding experiences possible for a student like myself. During my time there, two extremely impactful events took place which most do not experience within a single season. Those events were the merger and integration between Shire and Baxalta, and the FDA approval and product launch preparation of the Xiidra Lifitigrast dry eye treatment. For the integration, I was tasked with the creation of an interactive learning composite upon which people of all new departments of the ‘New Shire’ family could learn about the different diseases that Shire treats and the various patients that, because of Shire, have the ability to lead healthy lives through treatment. Throughout my research, I was instructed to connect and communicate thoroughly with all departments within Shire, including those new departments located overseas, to retrieve interactive learning decks. I then contacted a third party vendor to infuse all leaning composites to create one interactive application, upon which the ‘New Shire’ family could further learn and prosper.
