As an ER Technician assist doctors and nurses with physical examinations, collect samples for laboratory analysis, and assist in taking patient histories. Some skills that I preformed include performing medical procedures involving EKG’s, splints, CPR, and vital signs; and providing patients with information and comfort. I assist with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge nurse as indicated by patient's plan of care. I prepare patients and chaperone during examinations/procedures to assist providers with patient treatments including laceration repairs, incision and drainages, and pelvic/rectal exams. I also clean and replenish patient care areas with appropriate supplies. And I assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.

In my position I managed approximately 30 scribes. I dealt with administrative duties such as on boarding, scheduling, training, etc. I also did a lot of documentation of inpatient admissions, rounding’s, and discharges. I also documented clinical encounters and diagnostic studies such as x-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, MRI’s, Labs, and EKG’s. I tracked the progress of these diagnostic studies and update the provider either a doctor, physician’s assistant, or nurse practitioner when studies have been completed. I reviewed charts for proper and complete documentation, and finally I prepare discharge summaries and sending them to their primary care physicians.
