Hello! My name is Dylan Lewis, and I am excited to share my professional journey and aspirations with you. Over the years, I have gained valuable experience working as a Foreman and Engineer I at Timmons Group, as well as serving as a Surveyor for TRC Companies. These roles have not only shaped my skills but have also fueled my passion for civil engineering. In this introduction, I will highlight my experiences in these positions and discuss my ongoing plan to pursue a Civil Engineer degree at ODU (Old Dominion University). During my time at Timmons Group, I had the opportunity to work as a Foreman and Engineer I, where I actively participated in overseeing construction projects. As a Foreman, I was responsible for managing a team of skilled workers, ensuring that projects were completed efficiently and adhered to the highest quality standards. This role required strong leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to achieve project objectives.Additionally, my position as an Engineer I at Timmons Group allowed me to delve into the technical aspects of civil engineering projects. I was involved in designing and analyzing various structures, conducting site evaluations, and preparing engineering reports. This role allowed me to apply my theoretical knowledge into practical solutions, while also honing my problem-solving and analytical abilities. Furthermore, I had the privilege of working as a Surveyor for TRC Companies, where I gained hands-on experience in the field. As a surveyor, I played a crucial role in collecting precise measurements, mapping terrains, and preparing accurate survey reports. This role required meticulous attention to detail, a strong understanding of surveying techniques, and proficiency in using advanced surveying equipment and software. While my experiences as a Foreman, Engineer I, and Surveyor have been immensely rewarding, I am eager to further my education and pursue a Civil Engineer degree at ODU. I strongly believe that obtaining a formal education in civil engineering will not only expand my knowledge base but also provide me with the necessary tools and expertise to take on more significant challenges in the field.
