As a research assistant, I supported a range of projects in cancer surveillance and central cancer registry operations at the state and federal level. From day to day, I managed registry data and quality assurance, supported data quality evaluations in cancer registries nationwide, and used registry data in research conducted on patient outcomes. I also designed and developed tools in Microsoft that further supported registry operations in tracking completeness and timeliness of reporting, managing communications between the central registry and its medical facility reporters, and informing medical facility reporters of relevant submission statistics. On a daily basis, I provided SAS and SQL programming support to query and analyze large medical data sets to support a number of tasks and other team members in data management and quality assurance contributing to the overall workflow of cancer registry operations. Using web-based data visualization libraries written in JavaScript (e.g., D3.js), I also developed interactive data query tools for displaying data quality evaluation results as well as supported my team in other data visualization request for presentations.Beyond cancer registry data management, I supported epidemiological studies, which in turn used registry data to analyze disparities in incidence, survival, and treatment by racial/ethnic categories as well as other demographic characteristics. Throughout these studies, I collected and summarized results ranging from basic survival statistics such as median and one-year survival to more complex statistical models such as but limited to Cox Proportional Hazards Regression and Binomial Logistic Regression.

Community Psychology Lab - N.D. Reppucci, Ph.DWorking as a laboratory coordinator and research assistant in the Community Psychology Laboratory, I maintained databases for projects on topics such as dating violence among at-risk youth, police interrogations, and the juvenile justice system. Using SPSS, I provided basic analyses (e.g., descriptive statistics, frequencies, and correlations) as well as more sophisticated analyses (e.g., hierarchical linear regressions). For the dating violence study, I managed reporting, data archiving, and grant proposal preparation. Additionally, I used psychological and legal research databases to perform in-depth literature searches in support of journal manuscripts, research proposals, and presentations. I also managed other undergraduate research assistants.

The Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and LearningAs a research assistant at the Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning, I analyzed qualitative and quantitative data across different types of assessments (e.g., surveys, school records, behavioral assessments, videos) for a longitudinal project focused on the teacher-student relationship in preschool classrooms. With a team of researchers, I evaluated the validity and reliability of a new measure for assessing child behavior using video data. Additionally, I managed and organized large databases of participant information, survey data, and video logs from 3 years of data collection.

As a resident advisor, I supervised a residential hall of 14 incoming First-Year Students throughout the school year, prioritizing their safety and health and promoting their personal and intellectual growth. Beyond my general duties as a resident advisor, I also served on the 2012 Last Lecture Series Committee, a program that honors distinguished professors for their contributions to the University of Virginia.
