I am currently employed by Tauranga City Council as Team Leader Environmental Planning. The role predominately relates the implementation of the Resource Consent function of Council, including the mentoring and development of direct reports (8-10 people), system management, business improvements, delegated decision making and stakeholder engagement. Prior to working at Tauranga City Council I was Team Leader for Resource Consenting at Bay of Plenty Regional Council. I also continued to practice planning, acting as Council’s Expert Planner in the Environment Court on three occasions during my tenure there. In 2017 I was awarded the employee of the year award ‘the Supreme Kekewai’ as nominated and judged by my peers.I grew up in Mount Maunganui (where I currently reside), went to university at the University of Waikato, and traveled to, and lived in, various countries (Canada, England, Spain, France) before I settled back in New Zealand.Like a lot of graduates I worked in a variety of industries before settling into my chosen career. This included building, commercial fishing, hospitality and luxury yachts. I think the life experience gained through various vocations is invaluable in being a successful professional who can engage and communicate effectively with a broad range of people. My goals in life are simple; to be an inspired and successful professional, a good father and enjoy the beautiful place that we live.
