My responsibilities as a Commissioning Agent included:- Manage code required, full scope, and LEED v4 Fundamental & Enhanced MEP commissioning projects for both new construction and renovation project types utilizing the collaborative commissioning platform CxAlloy.- Review request for proposal documentation, form project fees, and assist in developing the final proposal.- Design phase responsibilities include reviewing the Owners Project Requirements (OPR) and Basis of Design (BOD) documents, generating commissioning specifications, issuing MEP design reviews, and generating the Commissioning Plan.- Construction phase responsibilities include hosting a commissioning kickoff meeting with the project team, performing MEP submittal reviews, generating pre-functional checklists for equipment in scope, forming functional test scripts specific to project equipment, systems, and controls, performing functional tests, maintaining a commissioning issues log, and hosting weekly touch base meetings to review ongoing issues.- Project turnover and post occupancy phase responsibilities include gathering closeout documentation from the construction team, uploading LEED documentation, and preparing and issuing a final commissioning report, systems manual, current facilities requirements document (CFR), and ongoing commissioning plan to the client.

My responsibilities as a Building Energy Modeler included:- Utilize IES VE to model building geometry, mechanical zones, and mechanical systems, to calculate room, zone, and system level heating and cooling loads, and to apply HVAC and lighting schedules and controls logic to the model.- Utilize IES VE to calculate baseline and predicted energy use intensity (EUI) by end use. Formulate ECMs (energy conservation measures) and utilize IES VE to predict associated energy savings. Prioritize ECM list and formulate energy reduction storyboard. Present findings to the client.- Utilize IES VE to perform annual Spatial Daylight Autonomy (sDA) and Annual Solar Exposure (ASE) daylight analysis for critical spaces, and present findings to architectural team to inform window type, size, and placement.- Utilize IES VE to perform sun shadow studies to predict the potential shading impact of the proposed development on existing buildings and surrounding topography.

My responsibilities as a Mechanical Design Engineer included:- Gather and model existing conditions and assist senior engineers in identifying the most appropriate mechanical system type based on our client’s needs.- Utilize TRACE 700 and IES VE to calculate room, zone, and system level heating and cooling loads for the building, and size mechanical systems / equipment to meet these load requirements.- Utilize Revit to place, tag, and schedule mechanical equipment, model pipe and ductwork, generate isometric views, draw mechanical details, draw mechanical riser diagrams, and coordinate with other trades.- Issue mechanical permit, bid, issue for construction (IFC), and addendum documents under senior engineers’ licensure while conforming to code and adhering to project schedules.- Review installation throughout construction against design documentation and identify mechanical punch list items prior to building turnover.

My responsibilities as a Mechanical Engineering Summer Intern included:- Operating AutoCAD, Revit, and IES software platforms to aid in the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection building design process. - Assisting with data gathering and analysis for Energy Auditing and Retro-Commissioning teams, working within utility incentive programs such as ComEd’s retro-commissioning program. - Researching LEED specifications for Existing Buildings Energy prerequisites and credits, and apply the necessary requirements to the current building design.- Assisting Senior Engineers and Project Managers with Energy & Sustainability Analysis, preliminary design calculations, and equipment layouts. - Facilitating senior engineers on field visits with HVAC equipment layout and measurement.
