The Dick's Open is a PGA TOUR Champions event in Endicott, New York. My role as an intern is assisting in various ways to make the event successful. I have painted bleachers, prepared corporate tents, and worked with various sponsors during tournament week. As a result of working closely with fellow interns, I have developed team skills, saw the behind the scenes of what it takes to run a large event, and made valuable connections.The tournament debuted in July 2007, as the B.C. Open, a former PGA TOUR event from 1971 through 2006. It is sponsored by DICK'S, founded in the adjacent town Binghamton. The event's ultimate goal is to use professional golf as a foundation to raise money for charity, with over $20 million raised to date.
