In this position, I worked on the Philadelphia Office of Sustainability’s Zero Waste Team and with the School District of Philadelphia (SDP). As part of my work I:- Conducted a self-directed research project on zero waste practices nationally for the Zero Waste Team, interviewing policymakers, collecting data, analyzing it, and summarizing the findings in a report.- Researched and provided recommendations to the SDP to improve their zero-waste practices.- Attended meetings with different organizations, departments in the city, companies, and other stakeholders helping move Philadelphia towards its Zero Waste goals.

In this role, I worked with Dr. Dan Hopkins to assist him with several research projects. I helped research public opinion around the Affordable Care Act, the effects of identity-based language on Twitter engagement and Republican Primary results from Alabama, among other small projects. My daily responsibilities included:- Using R to analyze and reorganize polling data on the ACA.- Using R to match polling places to addresses in Alabama with geocoding and other methods.- Conducting literature reviews.- Coding qualitative data for identity or issue-based content.- Editing book chapters or reading over articles before publication.- Helping create figures and graphs for publication.

I worked as a PORES fellow with Dr. Stephen Pettigrew, working part-time for up to 20 hours a week. We were collecting and organizing the 2020 Election Returns at the State, County, and Precinct levels so that other researchers could more easily access them. In this position I:- Searched for and pulled data from secretary of state websites.- Reorganized data from all different formats by programming in R, in order to standardize them and create a coherent data product.- Maintained version control among several different scripts of code for different states and different levels of government.

In this role, I worked part-time phone banking to help mobilize voters for the 2020 election in key senate races across the country. Later, in the Fall of 2020 leading up to the election, I helped start and run a similar program for the Penn Democrats club at UPenn.
