About Dylan Scott Low 劉岩峻 ดีแลน
Hi, I'm Dylan. I'm a cognitive scientist in training. I'm also an experienced linguist and text analyst. My research focuses on how the human brain computes and processes meaningful natural language. I am currently doing a PhD in Cognitive Science at Johns Hopkins University and previously worked at the Neurolinguistics Lab at National Taiwan Normal University, where I want my MA in Linguistics.My long-term goal is to understand how the brain, nature's supercomputer, makes language possible. This is important — society works because we talk and communicate with one another. A good understanding of language, therefore, might lead us to better understand our uniquely human nature.In turn, understanding how real human brains use language in real human situations might lead to better, more resource-efficient artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to benefit humanity. For example, data-efficient AI could be helpful in preserving and revitalising endangered languages and cultures, which often lack sufficient digital resources. Therefore, I'm interested in topics such as multilingualism, multiculturalism, corpus linguistics, cognitive architectures, natural language generation, neural networks, and computational neuroscience.I was born and raised in sunny and multilingual Singapore, and I've lived abroad in Thailand and Taiwan since 2015.
