Transportation Security Officer
Current•Ensures flow of passengers through the screening checkpoint facilitating efficient and orderly processing.•Implements security screening procedures in courteous & professional manner central to Transportation Security Administration goals while protecting the flying public preventing any deadly or dangerous items from entering any aircraft.•Conducts screening of passengers as assigned.•Provides assistance to passengers who require special screening/assistance.•Immediately responds to breaches of security or emergency situations, relaying in firm, professional commands to control situations, including those that may become confrontational.•Operates various screening equipment such as: Walk-Through Metal Detector, Explosive Trace Detection system, Advanced Imaging Technology body scanner, and/or X-Ray machines as assigned.•Performs regular and recurring level 1 maintenance on ETD to include operational checks, calibration of ETD and AIT systems, material cleaning to prevent unnecessary equipment downtime.•Diagnose malfunctions and uses technical manuals, standard operating procedures and other guides to ensure proper maintenance of all equipment.•Monitors passengers' behaviors through check point screening area and alerts supervision of any potential or actual hazardous or dangerous materials, items and persons from entering secure areas and aircraft.•Ensures occupational safety and health guidelines are met and any decontamination procedures are followed contributing to a safe working environment.•Maintains communication chain between myself, superiors and fellow officers regarding any issues that may expose security vulnerabilities of security screening discovered during the course of screening. Participates in information briefings concerning security sensitive or classified information, and makes suggestions to improve screening process.•Participated in pilot programs of pre-checkpoint area selectee screening, Known Crew Member installation.
