As a chemist in the Ion Torrent ISP manufacturing group I am responsible for the production of all commercialized ISP products. I also assist the lead chemists in the development of new product lines, as well as the optimization of current product lines in order to increase process robustness of the product. Upon completion of production I carry out a series of analytical assays to determine the quality of the product against a set of product specifications. These assays are then further optimized by me to decrease sample to sample variability, as well as operator to operator variability.I also assist in the management of the day to day activities in the lab as well as the maintenance of the laboratory equipment.

As part of the Ion Torrent ISP manufacturing group, I functionally tested the ISPs on the PGM and Proton sequencing platforms. I also created documents and procedures to bring our group up to ISO 9001 standards.

I set up, maintained, and repaired Ion Torrent NGS sequencing platforms and supported R&D groups.

I conjugate Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) and biotin to monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, test my HRP conjugations through Western Blotting, purify secondary antibodies from salt cuts which I test by running an ELISA with my final purified product, and DNA plasmid purification.

Prepare buffers and solutions for sale, as well as for in-house use, salt cut animal tissue for full-time workers to purify secondaries from, label vials for products to be shipped out in, assist in ethanol precipitation of plasmids, and cleaning lab-ware.
