I love my job. Every day I'm learning more about Student Services, specifically Student Life, and how the department functions cohesively with other departments at Fleming College to ultimately improve and enrich the student journey. The growth I've experienced over the past two years is part and due to the fantastic mentorship by Leona Folz, Student Life Coordinator, the hands-on experience, being pushed out of my comfort zone and most importantly hard work. I can't imagine a better opportunity to impact the student body at large then help plan, coordinate and faciliate events that are Co-Curricular in nature. Highly recommended job for a student leader who is ready to step outside of their comfort zone and make an impact on Fleming College's Sutherland Campus.

I was one of the founders of Enactus Fleming and to date have indirectly impacted over a thousand members of the Peterborough Community, mainly students of Fleming College. Enactus Fleming was founded with inspiration to empower students to make incredible impact for the Team, our Community and the world. Enactus Fleming is a branch of the Enactus Canada network and further, a part of Enactus - a recognized global leader in student empowerment at post-secondary institutions. The organization(s) work together to achieve the United Nations' Sustainability Development Goals.As President of Enactus Fleming, I wrote grants, reports, project proposals and shook hands but most importantly I created partnerships. Partnerships that now collaborate to innovate Co-Curricular Programming at Fleming College. Enactus Fleming now proudly works with: the student body, the Student Government, Support Services, Faculty, Administration, Local Businesses, and multiple other Enactus Teams at their respective post-secondary institutions to ultimately enrich the student journey.

Highlights of my work include:-Leading a team of 10 to successfully develop a business plan to combat student food insecurity-Attending the Enactus World Cup-Participating in the Enactus Central Canada Regional Competition-Working with business industry leader, Coca Cola's Scott Lindsay

This experience allowed me to personally connect with over 300 students on campus about what the competition had to offer. During my term I helped more than 20% of those students actually create a pitch. While not all of them submitted their pitch, many did, and almost all of them proceeded to the semi-final round. I'm proud of the opportunity and I would do it again. Great mentors, highly recommended job for a leader looking for vehicle to empower others in a post-secondary institution.

This experience changed my life. No class room prepares you quite like getting a little dirty, or in my case, really dirty and often covered with paint and/or primer. This was my first experience running a registered business and it taught me how to produce a $30,000 season running an exterior painting business. Most importantly, this opportunity taught me to manage cash flow and to become more introspective. Understanding how to plan success includes taking care of yourself along the way.

My first "Business" job. I was a teller and I handled day-to-day banking transactions while practicing secure and confidential money handling skills. While the responsibilities remained mostly the same throughout my employment, every day I learned more about how a bank operates, how their systems operate, and how they manage their capital resources. This vested interest lead me to see insights that would have implications to real-world bank performance if acted upon. This inspiration gave me my first real-world chance to innovate. So, during low hours, I made four formal submissions to Scotiabank's Office of the Ombudsman. Two of them were acted upon immediately; one of which was adopted immediately at our branch and the other was adopted at every branch around the world - saving employees time and energy that resulted in huge cost savings for the bank. This opportunity ultimately shaped me into the person who I am today, the person I wanted around when I was younger. A leader. With incredible mentorship and skill developing opportunities, I've directly impacted thousands of community members in the Kawartha Lakes. It was during this time I met a man named Aaron Graham. He trusted me and believed in my potential. His faith in me... and his kick-ass job title. It was 'Coordinator of Community Development' and I remember thinking "What a kick-ass job title that is.. I want to do that." It's that thought that carried enough momentum that eventually propelled me to pursue studying business at post-secondary. Notable achievements include:-Learned how to rock climb, skateboard, DJ, cook and clean-Became certified by High Five for facilitating the Principles of Health Child Development-Learned how to make a half court-short into a basketball net with most things you can find in a gym storage room-Received an Award of Outstanding Leadership presented by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada national conference
