Dylan Tyree, formerly principal cellist of the award winning Denver School of the Arts Advanced Orchestra, is currently pursuing a B.M. in cello performance and composition at the University of Denver where he studies with Matthew Zalkind and Sean Friar. As a soloist, Dylan has been invited by various ensembles to perform works including Korngold’s Cello Concerto, Schnittke’s Triple Concerto, and Herbert’s Cello Concerto No. 2 in e minor to list a few. With a high interest in alternative styles, Dylan regularly performs with his rock/jazz cello-piano duo titled Duality. Also active as a composer/arranger, Dylan has received top prizes in various competitions including Michael Giacchino’s War for the Planet of the Apes Orchestration Competition in 2017 and most recently, the 2021 ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Awards to name a few. In 2020, Dylan co-founded the organization titled Classical Swing, an organization that promotes all styles of music and equity in music by offering non-traditional programs to the public for free.
