Former head of systems design for our 3U cubesatellite, HERON Mk II. Our primary mission is to study the effects of microgravity on the gene expression of C. Albicans, a yeast commonly found in the human gut flora. The mission will have implications for long-term astronaut health in space and on other planets. We're currently scheduled to launch onboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 in mid 2021.- Designed, assembled, and tested a 3U cube satellite to study the effect of microgravity on yeast gene expression, with implications for astronaut health on long duration interplanetary missions- Lead the design, simulation and manufacture of the satellite electronics, including the power subsystem, on-board computer, and payload sensors- Led the design and simulation of the spacecraft structure and environmental testing- Responsible for spacecraft verification against rideshare requirements - Managed a budget of $400k CAD and a 30+ person team

My work primarily focused on the concept of operations and hardware design.- Helped build, design and test Kepler’s everywhereIOT satellite modem- Designed TX and RX signal chains for an S-band satellite transceiver and simulated the design in Keysight ADS- Designed and tested mixed-signal circuit boards incorporating RF, high speed digital signalling and power distribution- Helped lead a team of about five people, planned timelines, and conducted design reviews

I worked in the Center for Ion Beam Applications on the design of a low-cost nanoimprinter. The device combined electrical, mechanical and software design, and was required to operate at up to 150ºC and 35 bar pressure for the manufacturing of nanofluidics chips.- Designed a nanoimprinter to fabricate nanofluidic chips for DNA research- Implemented a PID controller in Python to control 2.5 kW of heating to the build plate, improving rise time and uniformity- Performed thermal and pressure simulations in Solidworks to validate the design and inform component selection
