Worked with other students in a biological laboratory setting on a long-term controlled ecological study on the soil microbiome of the longleaf pine.Collected data and samples from a forested field setting.Coordinated my own ecological study on the impacts of fire on the soil microbiome of the longleaf pine as part of the broader study.Utilized micropipettes, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, vortex machines, scales, fume hoods, and other laboratory equipment to perform bacterial and fungal DNA extraction and quantification on soil samples.Presented research findings at major scientific conferences such as the Association of Southeastern Biologists and the National Conference on Undergraduate Research.
