About Dylan Brancato
I am an Optical Research Engineer at CFD Research Corporation as well as a master's student at the University of Central Florida, College of Optics and Photonics.At CFD, I specialize in designing metasurfaces in the nanophotonics group. My work involves utilizing metasurfaces in a variety of fields such as wavefront sensing, imaging, and optical neural networks. I am passionate about advancing science and technology in the fast-growing field that is nanostructured materials, and I am pursuing this further for my graduate studies.Before joining CFD Research, I gained valuable experience as an Undergraduate Researcher at CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics. There, I worked with a small team to develop nerve-suturing needles utilizing multi-photon lithography. My work focused on simulating beam propagation in our multi-photon polymerization setup and studying the effect of changes made to the setup. My internship at the Naval Air Warfare Center further honed my skills, where I contributed to the development of EO/IR support equipment and fiber optic networks.I hold a B.S. in Photonic Sciences and Engineering from the University of Central Florida, where I developed a strong foundation in photonics and optical design. My technical expertise includes programming languages such as MATLAB and Python as well as optical simulation tools like ZEMAX. Additionally, I also have knowledge utilizing CAD to create custom parts needed for optical alignment.I'm passionate about pushing the boundaries of optical research and look forward to connecting with others in the industry to explore new opportunities and collaborations.
