I am a risk management professional with an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and a post graduate master’s degree in Safety, Risk and Reliability Engineering. I have over 15 years of risk management experience, working as an enterprise risk management, business continuity, process safety and project risk management specialist. Core competencies include implementing enterprise risk management frameworks, quantitative analysis, business continuity programmes, process safety management risk reviews, major accident risk analyses and project risk management assessments for major capital projects. Alongside an executive director position, I have extensive experience working with executive teams and boards, as well as a passion and proven track record for building successful risk cultures within organisations and creating/implementing sustainable risk management governance frameworks. Part of the success has been an innovative and value driven approach to risk management with an emphasis on work force engagement and promoting ownership of risk at all levels in the organisation. Whilst having hands-on oil and gas experience across EMEA with large companies & projects, I also have extensive management & consulting experience in the utilities, chemical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and maritime sectors.Throughout my career I have provided thought leadership on risk, writing articles on safety and risk management issues, having spoken at risk management events as a panelist or guest speaker. I assisted the South African government draft an update to its Major Accident Hazard Regulations and I currently serve on the steering committee for the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) Qatar chapter and as the Deputy Chairman of the IRM's Energy and Renewables Special Interest Group.
