I worked on the sports desk at the Richmond Times-Dispatch, with responsibilities including filling sports agate (high school scores), summarizing Virginia sports events and results, as well some editing work. I was responsible for a beat as part of the Times-Dispatch's high school sports coverage, which mostly centered around high school cross country, track and field and swimming. I served as a primary manager of the high school sports desk's social media platform, 804 Varsity, on Twitter, posting scores, updates and stories on a growing platform that was instituted at the time I joined the staff.

Headed a student magazine as part of a SMAD course at JMU. I billed the magazine, 22807, as a Rolling Stone-esque dive into music and culture in the Harrisonburg area. I worked with editors, writers, designers and photographers on the vision and production of the print and online versions of the magazine. I wrote, edited and designed during the entire process to go along with management.

Selected as a part of the Dow Jones News Fund program, I worked as a copy editor and reporter at the Omaha World-Herald. While in the office, I wrote headlines, edited articles and made final touches on other aspects of articles and graphics. During the College World Series and U.S. Senior Open, I wrote small features on people and things that demonstrated the atmosphere of the events, which were published in the special sections for each event. I also wrote larger features on high school and college athletes/coaches in Nebraska for an athlete of the year section and a high school football preview.

I wrote news, opinions and reviews pertaining to the video game industry. My goal was to provide the most in-depth and quality information on these subjects through my writing. Website was maintained via a WordPress platform.
