Designed, developed, tested and maintained cloud infrastructure, servers and applications, edge-computing client software, and web frontends.Primary developer from Signal Garden supporting the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Landmark FlexGrid project, for which I engineered a web app capable of managing hundreds of IoT devices in real time. The app featured a client-facing web portal created with Angular 10, a Node.js backend written in TypeScript, and a MongoDB NoSQL database, all containerized as microservices. Security implemented the OAuth 2.0 framework, and WebSockets were used (as opposed to RESTful APIs) to efficiently support real-time data. I engineered the full app myself and collaborated with two peers on the design of the database, enabling the rapid assembly of hundreds of IoT edge-computing devices to the FlexGrid project before deadline. As the FlexGrid project matured, I took ownership of our entire software involvement, architecting a V2 upgrade to the edge-computing client software and related microservices while maintaining production availability. The migration reduced our codebase by 29% and compilation time by 20%.I also helped secure a no-bid contract with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by coordinating with a partner company to integrate (into the same web app) a blockchain solution for authenticating data streams from IoT devices, and demonstrating the process to DHS representatives.Management of all Signal Garden's web servers was directly my responsibility, which involved rotating SSL certificates, upgrading packages and container images, maintaining CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, managing sensitive company secrets, and evolving our use of AWS EC2 instances over time to minimize costs. Between major projects, I converted Signal Garden's company website to a static design using Eleventy (11ty), which improved First Contentful Paint by 72.2%, Speed Index by 70.5%, and Cumulative Layout Shift by 95.8%.

Designed, developed, and maintained Augmented Reality mobile applications.I delivered the first ARCore Android application published on Google Play: Atom Visualizer for ARCore. Responsibility for this application continued into my Full Stack Developer role, and over four years of my development, the application has grown its audience to 300,000+ unique installs and has averaged a 4.17 rating (out of 5). After public release, I wrote custom compute shaders to improve the application's frame rate by approximately 23% by offloading a large number of position and animation computations to the GPU.In collaboration with a team of Google Search representatives, I wrote a Python script for Blender which generates the 118 known atomic elements as 3D models, animates them, and exports the animation frames for each. This enabled the Google Search team to provide trusted-partner assets at the top of related search results (e.g., www.google.com/search?q=hydrogen) in Chrome browsers, increasing Signal Garden's brand awareness and providing new points of contact with partner companies.

Designed, developed, and maintained Augmented Reality mobile applications, and mentored NMSU STEP interns in mobile development with Unity3D.I designed and developed Signal Mapper, Google Tango's most popular paid app on Google Play. The application made use of the latest Augmented Reality technology and a sophisticated layer of real-time shaders to render various signal types (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) as a heatmap overlayed on a user's environment. The application improved Signal Garden's reputation in the Augmented Reality space and was featured in the 2017 Google I/O keynote speech.I authored and delivered a workshop at MIT's 2016 Reality, Virtually hackathon for developing Augmented Reality applications on mobile platforms, in collaboration with the Google Tango team, improving Signal Garden's brand awareness and reputation in Augmented Reality technologies.I created a new revenue stream for Signal Garden by packaging existing Android assets for sale as Unity Asset Store products. The existing assets were used heavily throughout most of Signal Garden's projects, and minimal repackaging made them ready for sale as native Android plugins for Unity3D projects, which generated a steady secondary income for Signal Garden.
